On May 24th, the workers of the Ministry of Communications participated in a special morning ceremony, prepared by the union section No.1, dedicated to the 124th Anniversary of the Death in Combat of Our Apostle, José Julián Martí Pérez.

José Julián Martí Pérez, the National Hero of Cuba, died in combat on May 19th, 1895, in Dos Ríos, a widely knowledgeable man who defended the unity and freedom of oppressed peoples, as well as their equality regardless of race or social stratum and with a deep anti-imperialist character in his ideals.

His legacy lasts until our days, inviting us to live our lives loving our neighbor and nature, to fight for personal goals and projects, to constantly improve ourselves, but above all to continue fighting for our revolutionary project, a free and sovereign Cuba where collective interests prevail over individual ones.

This space was appropriate for Anays Ofarrill Veranes, Secretary General of the Base Committee of the UJC (Young Communist League), to present a brief review of the Postal Cancellation that took place on May 19th in the Bosque Martiano of Ariguanabo where the young people of the Base Committee of the UJC participated, accompanied by the Minister of Communications.

As part of the homage to our National Hero, a recognition was presented in the morning to the Ministry's Security and Protection Office for the results achieved regarding Fire Protection during 2018.

Two life experiences of young women dedicated to ICTs: Leslie Carrodeguas Rodríguez, Director of Information Management and Susana Fuentes Jiménez, senior specialist of the Ministry's Informatization Office. They shared their experiences as women who work in the telecommunications field and encouraged the new generations of girls to choose technology-oriented majors.

As usual, congratulations were given to the workers who are celebrating their birthday in May.

Ángel López del Barrio, the administrator of the Communications Ministry's theater, experienced an emotional moment when receiving a special award on behalf of the National Union of the CTC (Workers' Central Union of Cuba) for his contribution to the successful development of the May 1st parade during 14 years. Congratulations from the highest leadership of the organization and all the workers.
