Postage stamp cancellation on the occasion of International Workers Day

The cancellation of a postage stamp alluding to International Workers' Day took place this Friday at the headquarters of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) as part of the activities to celebrate International Workers' Day.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and top trade union leader of the country, Mayra Arevich Marín, head of the Ministry of Communications and Isdalis Rodríguez Rodríguez Rodríguez, member of the Central Committee of the Party and second secretary of the CTC, participated in the official issuing of the stamp printed in multicolor and with a print run of 8,177 copies.

Its design, conceived by José Antonio Medina, represents a parade of the working class. Cuban workers in the José Martí Revolution Square in Havana, an image that is contained within a number 1 next to which there is a cogwheel as a symbol of labor.

At the bottom of the stamp appears the phrase referring to this date and in the cachet of the envelope waving Cuban flags are represented and the logo to celebrate the date can be seen.
With a value of one peso in local currency, the issue entered into circulation with the official backing of Resolution number 6 of the Ministry of Communications issued on April 15, 2021, according to Elena Chagues Leyva, head of the CTC's education and propaganda department.

This cancellation -she said- will allow us to perpetuate for Cuban history and philately the commemoration for which we are being called today, a celebration in which Cuban workers unite to put hands and heart to the Homeland.

Also present at the ceremony were Liber Labrada, director of marketing and business of Grupo Empresarial Correos de Cuba, members of the CTC secretariat and representatives of the National Unions.
