The National Week of Fire Protection takes place in Cuba from May 14 to 20, 2019, with the motto "Let's do it right, fires are avoidable".

During its 53rd edition, dedicated to the 500 Anniversary of the founding of the Villa de San Cristobal de La Habana, the Cuban Fire Department granted an award to the Ministry of Communications in acknowledgment for the results achieved in Fire Protection during 2018.

The Ministry of Communications has been awarded this recognition for several consecutive years, especially the Office of Security and Protection that is responsible for training workers in preventive work.

The National Week for Fire Protection was held for the first time in Cuba in November 1966, as part of the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to prevent the occurrence of these disasters, which are so harmful to the economy and society in general.
