The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) published on its website http://www.itu.int a list of the candidate projects to the 2019 awards of the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).
 
Cuba, as a member country of the ITU, is nominated featuring three projects, which are: the website www.correos.cu , and the Correos de Cuba app, they can be found in the 7th category, regarding e-Government.

The website El Ciudadano, which was developed by DESOFT for the province of Pinar del Rio, is also nominated under the 1st category; additionally, the website Cubaeduca, created by CINESOFT is featured in the 9th category.
 
It is important to highlight that there is an existing process for online voting. Those interested in voting for the Cuban projects and others that might be of interest, can access this link https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/prizes/2019 where the registration steps are explained.
 
Online voting started in December 21st, 2018 and it will end on February 10th, 2019. The Experts Group will select the winning projects out of the three most-voted projects.
 
The 18 winners and champions will be granted the acknowledgement of the 2019 WSIS Forum, which will take place from April 8th to the 12th, 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland . The winning projects will be published on the issue WSIS Stocktaking: Success Stories 2019 , and the 2019 WSIS Stocktaking Report will contain the description of every presented project or activity.
* The 2019 WSIS Awards are a way of exceptionally and internationally acknowledging the interested parts of the WSIS as Winners or Champions for the excellence of their contributions to the enactment of WSIS's results, especially its Action Guidelines that favor the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) .
 
This WSIS Awards contest was organized in response to the requests made by the interested parts of the WSIS, aimed at creating an efficient mechanism for evaluating projects and activities that make the most out of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in order to foster a sustainable development. Since it was created, the WSIS Awards Contest has attracted more than 300 000 interested parts.
