In session, governing board of Correos de Cuba

In the morning of May 8, the Governing Board of the Correos de Cuba Business Group (GECC) was in session, it was presided over by José Carlos del Toro Ríos, who is an official from the Ministry of Finances and Prices and president of the governing board.

Other members of the board who attended the session were Wilfredo López Rodríguez, an official from the Ministry of Communications; Ricardo Reyes Cupón, an official from the Ministry of Economy and Planning; Daniel Alfonso Robaina, deputy rector of the Technological University of Havana CUJAE; and Carlos Asencio Valerino, president of Correos de Cuba.
Other participants were Ana Julia Marine López, vice-minister from the Ministry of Communications; Alba Estebanez Novo, secretariat member of the National Communication Workers Union; Meilán Weng Peña, head of the Postal Services Department from the Ministry of Communications; Eldis Vargas Camejo, first vice-president of the Business Group; and other OSDE officials.

The members of the Governing Board, and the guests, focused this work session on the accurate analysis of the behavior of the main economic indicators regarding profits and services quality in each one of the 20 companies of the Business Group at the end of the first quarter of 2020; such valuation allowed them to specify the figures that must be reviewed and adjusted in this year's plan based on the direct negative impact generated by COVID-19 on services provided by Correos de Cuba internally and to third parties, and therefore, the problems suffered by the salary system and the payments for their workers' results.

The participants in this work session of the Governing Board of the Correos de Cuba Business Group agreed on the fact that the OSDE and the companies need to keep on systematically monitoring and evaluating the evolution of operations and services, and make choices and apply measures or alternatives accordingly that allow to limit or reduce the negative impact of the complex situation created by COVID-19 in the country concerning economic and corporate management and the income of the postal organization.
