


In the afternoon of September 22, the National Ballet of Cuba held a presentation conference for the workers of the Ministry of Communications, as part of the celebration of its 75th Anniversary.
The activity was presided over by Inés María Chapman Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba; Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba; Mayra Arevich Marín Minister of Communications and Viengsay Valdés General Director of the National Ballet of Cuba.
The conference entitled "An encounter with dance, technique, expression and styles", given by Dr. Miguel Cabrera, historian of the company, took place at the Theater of the Ministry of Communications, with the performance of dancers Nadila Estrada and Alejandro Alderete. The Spanish Dance of the third act of the ballet "Swan Lake" was performed by Chavela Riera and Yankiel Vázquez; and from the same work, the Dance of the Four Swans of the second act, by Alianed Moreno, Melaine Leyva, Paloma Blanco and Camila Alfonso.
This type of didactic activity has been a constant work of the National Ballet of Cuba for decades, and was an idea promoted by prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso in order to offer the art of ballet to all the people of Cuba, as well as the knowledge to better appreciate it.
The Minister of Communications, Mayra Arevich Marín, expressed her gratitude on behalf of all the workers for the excellent class given and for the demonstration of the dancers, faithful followers of prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, for her courage and dedication, as well as to our Commander Fidel who accompanied and made it possible for us to enjoy today this jewel of Cuban culture that is the National Ballet of Cuba.
For her part, Viengsay Valdés, general director of the National Ballet of Cuba, invited those present to the jubilee of the 75th anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba, during the month of October, which will feature a repertoire of more than 700 works.
