Mayra Arevich Marín, Minister of Communications of Cuba, checked, on Tuesday morning, the actions to support the La Timba neighborhood, in the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución.

In this work session, which took place at the Community Cultural Center of 31st Street and 2nd Street, also participated Fidel Hernández Arias, Mayor of the municipality of Plaza de la Revolución; and the Vice Minister of Communications, Grisel Reyes León.

Under the leadership of Antonio Blanco Hernández, Director of the company in charge of Public Hygiene in Plaza de la Revolución, the aforementioned officials checked the progress of the work schedule of the construction, repair and upkeep actions that are being carried out in different work objectives that are expected to be concluded in La Timba before the end of this year.

Specialists from CITMA's Center for Psychological and Sociological Research support the public officials who participate in these actions, in order to achieve the most appropriate analysis and approach regarding the actions to be undertaken, considering the social and psychological context that characterizes the neighborhood and the neighbors of La Timba.

The directors and businessmen of the state and non-state entities that are carrying out the actions being undertaken in La Timba, explained how each of the works are progressing; and the objective limitations with which they are being undertaken, as well as the subjective problems that persist and influence the timely completion of supermarkets, warehouses, bakeries, medical offices, pharmacies, parks, roads and sidewalks, water and sewage systems, telecommunications systems and public lighting; and the neighborhoods with the most serious problems.

Arevich Marín insisted that it is not a question of intervening La Timba by the State, but that it is necessary to continue working and promoting the revival of the neighborhood as a whole and in permanent communication with the population living in these communities.

The member of the Central Committee of the Party, repeated the need to offer individual and differentiated attention to the most vulnerable people; and asked the organizations and entities that participate, to put all their love and heart into these works, which not only means repairing and painting the facilities, parks and streets, but above all it is required to offer the population products and services of higher quality, she emphasized.
