India and Cuba evaluate collaboration in 5G and 6G technologies

New Delhi, Apr 1 (Prensa Latina) Representatives from India and Cuba evaluated cooperation in capacity building and training for the deployment of infrastructure in rural areas, as well as science and innovation projects to develop 5G and 6G technologies.

This was the result of a meeting on Friday between K Rajaraman, chairman of the Digital Communications Commission and secretary of the Department of Telecommunications of the Ministry of Communications of India, and the deputy minister of the sector in Cuba, Grisel Reyes, who is in New Delhi leading a group of specialists.

These issues will be included in the collaboration agreement that both countries plan to sign, Reyes told Prensa Latina.

This week, India and Cuba agreed to collaborate on digital transformation following a meeting between the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Alkesh Kumar Sharma, and Deputy Minister Grisel Reyes.

The Cuban official told Prensa Latina that representatives from both nations identified important collaboration opportunities for digital transformation.

Reyes noted that the parties seek to share open source platforms to implement government services, training and education projects in emerging technologies, as well as the creation of a high-performance computing center, among other initiatives.

The Cuban delegation also met with the board of directors of the National Association of Software and Services Companies of India.

At a forum in New Delhi conducted by the Economic Trade Organization of India at the headquarters of the Federation of Exporters of the South Asian country, the Cuban deputy minister highlighted the possibilities of joint work between companies of the two nations in order to enter the technological market of Latin America.

The Cuban delegation also participated in the Indiasoft 2023 International Exhibition and Conference on Information and Communication echnologies, the largest technology event in India.
