On September 7, the National Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Communications (ANJUPEC) will celebrate its 102nd Anniversary, for this reason the workers of the communications system extend their congratulations to all retirees and pensioners; as well as their recognition and respect for the years dedicated to the development of the sector and for the effort and love with which they keep this organization alive.

Brief historical review of ANJUPEC.
On March 18, 1915, the Organic Law of Communications was enacted, which included the retirement of officers and employees of the General Directorate of Communications.

At the beginning of 1921, the retirees and pensioners of communications did not receive their pensions, since there were no funds, so 11 retirees in Santa Clara tried to form an association in defense of their interests, which was not successful due to the lack of acceptance in the rest of the provinces and it is precisely at that moment that in Havana, a strong protest movement arose led by Antonio Oms Serrat, founder and first president of the Association of Telegraphists, who made great efforts for the formation of the Association of Retirees. By agreement, the eleven retirees of Santa Clara were included, who dissolved their association and joined the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Correos y Telégrafos, which was constituted on September 7, 1921. Eventually it became the Association of Retirees and Pensioners of Communications (ANJUPEC).

Since the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, social security has been guaranteed for all workers in the country, and communications retirees and pensioners no longer have a separate retirement.

Within the work of ANJUPEC, the interest in improving the living conditions of its members and uniting all retirees and pensioners is highlighted. It also promotes the bonds of fraternity among associates, participates in the tasks for the construction of the socialist society and strengthens its relations with other associations, organisms and organizations.
