Cuba's First Vice Minister of Communications, Wilfredo González Vidal, is attending the second day of the XXI Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) taking place in Bucharest (Romania).

With this work session begins the high-level segment where member countries express their considerations on the development of technologies, the role of ITU in the framework of the United Nations and the potential of digitization for the quality of life of people.

Representatives of several countries expressed that there is still a digital divide in the world, and that only through cooperation between States and with the will of the countries is it possible to advance in this field and thus achieve the goals of the 2030 agenda.

The role of public policies to stimulate the integration of all stakeholders in the countries and thus achieve compliance with the actions in favor of the use of information technologies, with the benefit that this represents for the global economy, was highlighted.

The First Vice Minister of the Cuban Ministry of Communications, Wilfredo González Vidal, was accompanied by the Cuban Ambassador to Romania, Mrs. Déborah Leticia Ojeda, as well as other officials of the organization and of the Cuban Telecommunications Company, ETECSA.
