Cuba, present at the IGF LAC Space event, within the Internet Governance Forum

The Cuban Vice Minister of Communications, Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, spoke at the IGF LAC Space event within the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), convened by the Secretary General of the United Nations, which takes place from October 8 to 12 in Kyoto, Japan.

In his speech he highlighted, "In 2023, ITU celebrates the tenth anniversary of Accessible Americas, which is ITU's leading regional platform focused on ICT Accessibility to ensure digital inclusion and empowerment of all people, regardless of age, gender, ability or location.

"In this edition, the event organized by the ITU and the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Cuba, will be held from November 8 to 10 in the seaside resort of Varadero, Cuba."

The Vice Minister of Communications of Cuba on such an important event to be held in Cuba said: “Accessible Americas aims to strengthen the knowledge of ITU members on policies and strategies for digital inclusion and the exchange of best practices to ensure the accessibility of telecommunications and ICT products and services for people with disabilities, girls, boys, women, indigenous peoples, seniors and youth, to ensure that everyone benefits from the opportunities of ICTs.”

“At the same time, Accessible Americas provides participants with an opportunity to share experiences and knowledge about ICT accessibility projects and initiatives from the Americas region to benefit different parties.”

In his closing words, he reiterated the invitation to participate in the Accessible Americas event: "We invite you all, while we express our pleasure to welcome you to Cuba and share experiences and ICT projects focused on inclusiveness and the welfare of our people.”
