Cuba will host the international event Accessible Americas to be held from November 29 to December 1 in Matanzas, Varadero.

The event will showcase advances in the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to improve the quality of life of people with special needs.

Accessible Americas 2021 is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in close collaboration with the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Cuba.
It is the main ITU event in the region focused on ICT accessibility as a means to ensure digital inclusion and empowerment through ICTs for ALL people, regardless of age, gender, ability or location in the region.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital gap and equip all groups in society, including people with disabilities, indigenous, elderly, youth, gender and other groups of people to take advantage of ICTs by enabling capacity building and sharing experiences on how to design, develop and use accessible ICTs.
