In China, Cuba defended the need to expand global cooperation to preserve cybersecurity and face the growing proliferation of false news, defamation, and risks to international electronic and banking transactions on the Internet.

At the beginning of his official visit to China, Communications Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo told Prensa Latina that the Caribbean nation believes that cooperation among the states of the world is a viable way to counter those threats more effectively in the near future.

In the case of Cuba, it strengthens ties with China in this sphere 'starting with the aggressive escalation of the U.S. government and the development of the Internet itself,' which, he said, calls for greater international collaboration.

Perdomo explained that, as part of his agenda, he will address the issue in meetings with senior officials of the Chinese Administration of Cyberspace, other government agencies and telecommunications companies, sector where both countries have signed a memorandum for the exchange on international cybersecurity.

The Minister arrived on Thursday in Beijing leading the Cuban delegation that will attend the second International Exhibition of Imports and Exports, to be held from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai, the financial heart of the Asian giant.

'We have a very fluid relationship with the Chinese Government, authorities and local companies in the telecommunications and information technology sector. We will benefit from the setting of the fair to highlight these bonds, exchange and promote the strengthening of this cooperation', he concluded.

It is an event where more than three thousand national and foreign companies will reveal their strengths to increase shipment rates to the market of the second world power.

The exhibition is seen as a beacon that China lights for the trade between different continents to flow freely, balanced and with greater access at a time when protectionism overshadows world economy.

President Xi Jinping launched the idea in May 2017 to broaden the level of openness, while the Asian nation replaces the fast-growing model with one of high quality, environmentally friendly development, prioritizing technological innovation and domestic consumption.
