Beijing, 10/25/2019 (The People Online) - On Thursday, with the attendance of Wilfredo González Vidal, Cuban first deputy minister of Communications, an extensive presentation on the 2020 International Convention and Fair Informática was offered in Beijing.

The occasion brought together representatives of about thirty Chinese companies, who were able to discover details and news of the 18th International Convention and Fair Informática, to be held in Havana from March 16 to 20, 2020.

"It will be an honor to be able to count on the participation of Chinese companies and their support for the hosting of the event. We invite you to be part of the Exhibition Fair, and promote your products and services, not only for the Cuban market but also for Latin America and the Caribbean," said Miguel Angel Ramirez, Cuban ambassador to China.

The Chinese companies Huawei, Potevio and Haier are part of the group of sponsors of Informática 2020, which in its new edition will be held under the slogan "For digital transformation".

"In our business relationship we must enforce the words of President Xi Jinping when he assured that Cuba and China are friends, brothers, and comrades," remarked the Ambassador at the beginning of the meeting.

Wilfredo González Vidal, deputy minister of Communications of Cuba, who traveled to China to participate in the 6th World Internet Conference, explained to Chinese businessmen the opportunities offered by Informática 2020: establishing strategic alliances with Cuban companies, promoting themselves in Latin America and the Caribbean, channeling investments in Cuba and having access to direct dialogue with the country's top leadership, among others.

"There is something that calls our attention from the Chinese concept of "intelligent city", its link not only with society or citizens, but it also recognizes the development and modernization of sectors such as agriculture, industry, energy, telecommunications," Gonzalez Vidal told People's Daily.

It is considered as one of the most important informatics conventions in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the participation of prominent scientists and researchers in each edition. Professor Fan Binxin, recognized as the father of the information cybersecurity design in China, will be one of the foreign personalities who will bring prestige to the scientific sessions of the 18th International Convention and Fair Informática 2020.

"With the World Internet Conference, China begins to consolidate itself as an important space for cooperation between countries. Also for knowing and considering the need to make proper use of information technologies, preventing them from becoming a theater of military operations," he said.

Within the Chinese "Belt and Road" initiative, Cuba participates in the area of international cooperation linked to cyberspace.

"In this opportunity, we have been able to express our country's considerations on the need to advance in computerization but recognizing the concept of advancing in cybersecurity. There are threats in cyberspace and tangible examples of the misuse of information technologies when they should be used for the development and welfare of society," said González Vidal.

The Cuban First Deputy Minister of Communications also pointed out that his country is currently working on four fundamental pillars: infrastructure, content generation, digital services, and cybersecurity.

"It is clearly provable that with the use of technologies, which by themselves are not an end, certain strategies that contribute to the economic development and well-being of citizens can be established," he explained. "In the case of our country, one of the examples is associated with the tourism sector. There is an expression of the need to use these tools more intensively to enable more foreigners and tourists to visit the island. Therefore, just by mentioning this example I think it is understandable how the use of technologies can be an engine of our economy.
