The president of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez brought to a close today second National Workshop on Territorial Informatization and Cyber-security, at the Computer Science University (UCI), in Havana.
During his speech, Díaz-Canel acknowledged the strategic importance of this type of workshops, in which take part the main actors of the informatization of society. He also said that this type of events will continue to take place in order to systematically check how this process is going, because they foster integration and integrality; and for what they represent for the economic and social development of the country.
He insisted on the need of continuously boosting cyber-security; the development of interesting apps and websites, that provide services, and allow for knowledge to be managed, featuring attractive and educational content.
He also made a call to consolidate the first stage of e-Government on the websites of the provinces' organizations and governments; and to progress onwards to the second stage, focusing on achieving a greater interaction with the population, and gradually strengthening the management of the public administration.
He reiterated that the informatization of society has to be a pillar in the daily work and behavior of every cadre and official of all levels, mainly, those who should be clear about the necessity of supporting and encouraging the youth because they have the knowledge, and they want to contribute with their ideas and projects to the informatization of society and the economic development of the country.

The president also insisted on the need of relying on scientific research, social communication, and informatization, as a triad that allows us to face problems and find solutions for them , enabling us to present information and results to the people, regarding the administration of the government, as a way of directly linking ourselves to the citizens and interacting with them.

He explained that as the Cuban population grows old, we are compelled to computerize and automate processes, in order to improve the life quality of the people, for which we need to keep developing our infrastructures, bearing in mind the financial limitations of the country, and the blockade.

Moreover, he said that we must keep working on finding a way of lowering the costs in order to have a greater access of the population to the internet.

He pointed out the requirement of placing our content on social networks, in order to defend the ideas and conquests of the Revolution, just as we did when the Cuban doctors came back from Brazil; and with the victories obtained with the #60YMás and #YoVotoSí campaigns, facing the ones that our enemies tried to impose against the Cuban Revolution.

The Cuban president emphasized on the need of developing a responsible technological culture on social networks, defending the Cuban Revolution without offending anyone, not interfering with other people's private lives, and not doing anything dishonest, like our enemies do.

He made a call to work on boosting 4.0 industry in companies in order to accomplish a greater level of optimization and effectiveness in business management and production.

He also highlighted that we must keep on boosting and expanding e-Commerce, in order to bring services closer to the population, and gradually making procedures easier, for doing that, he said, we need to register, encourage, and generalize projects and proposals that exist in the country.

“About these topics, vice-presidents, some ministers, and myself, have been talking, during these days in Sancti Spiritus and Cienfuegos, to young people at Universities, to explain to them what the government is doing, and to encourage them to support local, and regional development with their ideas and talent, and in general to contribute to the country's economic and social development”, he expressed.

As a conclusion, the Cuban president remarked that in the informatization process of society we are aiming higher and higher, and added that on February 24th, Cuban revolutionaries will vote Yes for the new Constitution.
